What Golden Retrievers and Child Care Have In Common
Happy Tuesday,
Wifey here writing the intro today. One of my favorite things that I’ve done since our daughter was born is writing in a journal on every monthly birthday for her first year. I’ll probably make that once a year or twice a year after she turns one, but I hope she looks back on it some day and it brings her both joy and fun insights on what happens in a child’s first year (spoiler: a lot!). My mom did a great job taking notes during pregnancy and I loved having them during my 40 week journey. Lots of similarities with differences sprinkled in (bless her genetics for no stretch marks).
Other moms out there, what are some of the notable things you’re doing/did during your child’s first year?

One Big Idea

As technology rapidly evolves, so does its influence on our lives—especially in the area of privacy and the way we interact with the world. For kids today, the digital environment they're growing up in is fundamentally different from that of previous generations. For example, the Netflix comedy "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah" paints a picture of the dangers of the hyper-connected world, where personal embarrassments can become global phenomena in seconds.
But what if the stakes were even higher? Imagine a world where technology isn’t just about what we share, but what we think. It might sound a tad futuristic, but it’s closer than we think. In China, they're already testing the waters with brain wave tech for students to measure their attentiveness and prepare reports for their parents. Monitoring attentiveness today might just be the tip of the iceberg for what's possible tomorrow.
Whether or not that tech will become widespread, I don’t know. But I know that in raising my daughter, I’m going to make talks about tech a regular occurrence. I believe it’s important to discuss the ups and downs of our digital world, ensuring that she can understand the broader implications.
